I never know if the expression “It´s a dog´s life” is meant to be a good thing or a bad thing? I see some dogs that are so badly mistreated that you think to be a dog must be the worst thing in the world. Then you see other dogs who live such a life of eating and napping, eating and napping, you know that this is the dream to so many. I hate when I have to leave to work and I see my dog still napping at the end of my bed with a smile on his face, that smug pup! One dog, Nora, saw both sides of a dog´s life when she faced a traumatic beginning to her life, but don’t worry faithful readers, this story has a happy ending.
Nora was raised in a breeding facility in Canada, for one purpose: to have pups. These puppies are often sold at a high price if purebred and if not are just used as fight dogs for backstreet gambling. Nore was raised in a cage for this purpose, badly treated and was pregnant by the time she was 10 months old. A terrible existence for anyone and Nora suffered horribly.
The breeding facility was found and shut and all the dogs were brought to foster homes thanks to the organization Funds for Furry Friends. Nora was saved. Her new owners couldn’t believe what they saw when she arrived, she had barely any weight and was pregnant. Not only that but she had the burn marks of chains around her neck. Soon after being rescued, Nora gave birth to her pups.
Nora had been badly treated by humans and so didn’t trust her new owners despite the love and care they showed. It was only when the owner had a small baby, Archie, that Nora started to change her behavior. The pair bonded and often had naps together. Obviously, this makes for some incredibly cute photos and you can find the family on Instagram – wellettas.
While this is a happy ending and the family does live happily ever after. There is a lesson from this tail. There are too many mistreated pets in animal shelters today. If you are considering getting a pet, make sure you rescue one from an animal shelter. If you have a pet, take care of it, forever.
