It may sound insulting or funny to call someone a caveman or cavewoman in the 21st century, but you may get shocked to learn that most of these underground burrowed dwellings have all the facilities of modern homes. So this should not be considered as an insult. These cave houses do not need much of building or construction material. The hills and mountains they are built in to act as natural insulation all throughout the year for these cavemen. They actually end up saving a lot of labor, and it would be great if we call them the most conventional family homes.
These caves have semicircular entrances that are covered with rice paper or woven blankets to make them serve as makeshift doors. Now you may be wondering how come this is a modern home facility. Let us tell you that these caves are equipped with modern-day amenities like electricity and phone. If there is enough money with the caveman, he may also end up installing plumbing items in the cave house. There is no running water or sewage treatment system built for these caves, but locals rely on the raging muddy water of the nearby river.
The majority of these cave dwellers in China can do without all those expensive features as they prefer to enjoy their home’s natural bonuses. These cave houses have high ceilings and lots of space with a nice front yard where you can do some workouts and take a sunbath.
Most of these cave houses still have paper windows rather than glass panes. The owners of these cave houses sleep on large stone beds that are known as kang. These stone beds are cool in the summer, and there is a small cavity underneath so that fire can be lit inside these stone beds in the winter season. Isn’t it pretty cool?
These cave houses sound something like from a history book, but these cave houses have some qualities that would impress the most forward-thinking of modern world architects. Cave houses of China are unsurprisingly pretty kind to the environment. If we talk about the population of these cave dwellers, you might be shocked. The population of these cave dwellers is more than 30 million. That’s a pretty huge number!
